Liposuction Procedures & Treatment
Liposuction is a treatment for removing excess fat with the help of small straw like instrument known as "Cannula". Cannula is attached to a specialized suction machine which manipulate within the layers to remove unwanted fatty deposits. An elastic garment is worn for compressing and healing which results into re-sculpting of bulging areas in attractive contours.
When is Liposuction indicated?
Liposuction has many therapeutic applications that are used very effectively for medical conditions like excessive sweating and non-cosmetic accumulation of fat like lipomas and gynecomastia.
How is Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction can be performed at cosmetic surgeon's office facility or in an outpatient surgical center. To avoid potential complications local anesthesia is used. With liposuction, large volumes of a solution containing dilute lidocaine and dilute epinephrine are injected with minimal discomfort directly into areas of excessive fatty deposits.
Once the liquid is injected, a small incision is made in the skin, and a tube connected to a specialized suction machine is inserted into the fatty layer. Using gentle motions, the fat is drawn through the tube into a collection system. The tumescent method enables the cosmetic surgeon to remove large amounts of fat more uniformly with fewer skin irregularities and less bleeding and bruising.
